Underrated trekking places near Vasai

Vasai is blessed with wonderful nature and amazing landmarks around. There are a number of places once can travel to and indulge in some adventures. If you are in Vasai or a citizen of this city aka Vasaikar you might have wondered " are there any trekking places near Vasai?"

The answer is YES!


Here's a list of treks you can take near Vasai


1. Trekkers' Paradise: Chinchoti Waterfall, Vasai


A perfect trek and adventure site located near Vasai East. Chinchoti is an amazing trekking trail. A paradise of nature with birds and insects on the way. To reach there, Naigaon or Vasai railway stations(east) are the best options. Rickshaws from both the stations are available. Naigaon is a shorter route. By Rickshaw, taking a 20 minutes drive one can reach Kaman and begin the trek.

It is a favorite trekking choice of the people living in the Mumbai Metropolitan area. The best time to visit is from August to October. Do carry with your drinking water and dry snacks. One needs to be a little careful while enjoying the trek. Avoid going in the deep water. Also return to Kaman before sunset as it's the trail is through the forest area.


2. The Jivdani Temple, Virar


The ancient Jivdani temple situated on the hill, which forms a part of the Western Ghats. The temple is dedicated to the Jivdani goddess, the incarnation of Adishakti. Jivdani literally means giver of life.

To reach here board a local train up to Virar railway station (east). One can walk about 2 km to reach the steps of Jevdhani temple.

Over a thousand steps have to be climbed to reach the top. It is crowded on weekends, Tuesdays and also during the Navratri festival.


3. Tungareshwar, Vasai


The Tungareshwar trek is about 15 km long,.


The best time for this trek is between months of June and Septemeber. It is located at a height of about 650 meters. The forest area here is full of small waterfalls and greenery. From the top one can view the Pelhar lake, the Tansa river, and the Vajreshwari area.

Many people are seen trekking from Vasai (East). From here rickshaws ply up to Tungareshwar temple. Now from there, the trek begins.

One needs a whole day to trek here and so it requires you to be physically and mentally fit


According to me, Tungareshwar is a cost-friendly trek. If you love nature in its full splendor, then try this trek. It also tests your stamina and determination to reach places.


4. Vasai Fort


Distance Naigaon Station: 6 km


The Vasai Fort is a major tourist attraction of Vasai. This fort today is in ruins.

For trekking, one can walk from the Naigaon(west) railway station. One must use the Naigaon Koliwada road through Papdi to reach the fort. If you are tired after the visit, you can hire a rickshaw to Vasai or Naigaon railway station.

There are quite a few churches inside the fort. Except one, all are roofless. This fort is ideal for shooting location TV serials and films. Ma. The best time to visit the Fort is between October and May.
