1- Misal Pav
Misal Pav is a common breakfast in Mumbai. It’s a complete meal as it is a mixture of sprouts & pulses cooked in a spicy curry. It tastes 10 times better when you top it with Onion, Coriander & some Farsan. All you have to do is dip a piece your soft Pav (bread) in piping hot curry (at this point your mouth will start watering, I bet) & eat it!
This dish was originated in Pune but however, it has become Mumbai’s favorite. There are different kinds of misals you can try depending on your spicy food tolerance.
Tip: Many places give refill of "Rassa" i.e gravy, don't hesitate to ask for it :)

2- Vada Pav
Vada Pav is an absolute favorite of almost every Mumbaikar. It's a go-to snack & it is the cheapest. Vada is made of mashed potatoes, spices & herbs, dipped in chickpea batter & then fried until the outer covering becomes somewhat crispy. That Vada is paired with Pav along with some garlic chutney. And no, Vada Pav is not Indian Burger, it’s much more than that rather different than that.
Fun Fact: Did you know the combination of Vada Pav was originated in Mumbai? Individually they were brought to India by the Portuguese.

3- Chowpatty Bhel
Bhel is usually a mixture of different types of savory components. This mixture was originated in Gujrat but the word ‘Bhel’ is often associated with Mumbai Beaches.
Well, Chowpati Bhel is a type of Bhel that is made in Chowpatty style. It’s made of puffed rice, boiled potatoes, tomatoes, onion mixed with different types of spicy & tangy chutney. You can spot a chowpatty bhel wala near the beaches. It's a great snack to munch on while watching the waves become graceful & the sun going down.
4- Pav Bhaji
You might wonder "Mumbai mai sab Pav k sath khate hai Kya?" (Everything is eaten with Pav in Mumbai?). Well, mostly yes. Sometimes, North Indian Samaosa is also eaten with Pav. I don't know what's the point of that. Anyway, Pav Bhaji is something that's eaten to celebrate stuff but that doesn't mean you can't just go and eat Pav Bhaji, you can. It's probably most delicious Indian street food! It's a thick vegetable curry with soft buttery Pav (I'm drooling). Bhaji usually has boiled potatoes, tomatoes, onions, capsicums, different types of herbs & spices. Just like Misal Pav this too tastes better when topped with chopped onions.
5- Puri Bhaji
Unlike Pav Bhaji's (vegetable curry) this Bhaji is just made of mashed potatoes, herbs & spices. Simple yet super delicious. It is served with Puri i.e fried Indian bread FYI if you are a firang (non-Indian). This could be your break or sometimes even lunch. Puri Bhaji is at times paired with pickle.
And there are many more dishes that you might love in Mumbai but these 5 dishes are something you just cannot miss.
